Barbara Res, the project manager behind the striking Trump Tower on New York’s Fifth Avenue, will be delivering a keynote speech at this year’s UK Construction Week.
Despite encountering decades of sexual discrimination, harassment and intimidation, Barbara, a professional engineer and lawyer, became the first woman to take charge of a major skyscraper in New York.
She was hired to be the vice-president of the Trump Organisation, working for Trump for almost 18 years (1978 – 1996).
Initially supportive of the President, she now speaks freely about how she believes his attitudes to women have changed.
She speaks passionately about her strong views on women in construction and her philosophy on feminism, talking in-depth to women’s groups and industry groups about construction and the role women have in it.
Barbara published her memoir, All Alone on the 68th Floor: How One Woman Changed the Face of Construction, in 2013, and will be delivering a keynote presentation at the construction industry’s largest event, UK Construction Week, taking place at the NEC on 9-11 October.
Barbara will discuss her experience as a female engineer, working on Trump Tower, the successes and challenges of working with the POTUS, and sexual harassment in construction, alongside journalist and broadcaster, Steph McGovern, at the UKCW Stage on the second day of the event.
